Weili Chen

Managing Director, North American Asset-Backed Securities, Fitch Ratings

Weili Chen joined Fitch Ratings in New York in 2026 as a Managing Director, North American Asset-Backed Securities. He leads analytical rating and research efforts across a range of esoteric and emerging asset sectors, including transportation, AI accelerators, proven/developed/producing oil and gas reserves, and future-flow receivables.

Mr. Chen brings more than 25 years of structured-finance experience spanning origination, structuring, ratings, and criteria development. He joins Fitch from WeShare Holdings in Hong Kong, where he oversaw international originations of private asset-backed securities. Before that, he spent more than eight years as Head of Commercial Asset-Backed Securities at Standard Chartered Bank, focusing on originating and structuring securitizations backed by infrastructure, transportation, and other commercial assets such as private equity LP interests. Earlier, he spent 17 years at Standard & Poor's in New York, most recently as an analytical manager for Non-Traditional Assets, leading the team responsible for rating securitizations across asset classes ranging from transportation equipment leases, SME loans, and intellectual property to insurance-related receivables and solar power purchase agreements.

Mr. Chen holds an M.B.A. in Finance from the Yale School of Management and a master's degree in City Planning from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He earned his bachelor's degree in Architecture from Qinghua (Tsinghua) University in China.
