Matthew Keogh
Matt is the Global Head of Linklaters Investment Funds practice, which in 2025 represented top tier sponsors raising funds with a value in excess of US$175bn and acted for investors committing more than US$25bn to over 200 private funds and co-investments.
Matt has been at the forefront of the burgeoning private credit market, having built a truly market-leading practice in this area. He has worked closely with his sponsor clients, including Macquarie, QIC, QEnergy, DWS, Deutsche Bank, Morgan Stanley, Allianz, Ashmore and others, to bring a series of innovative private credit products to market over the last decade.
Matt has over 20 years’ experience in the structuring and management of funds and managed accounts investing in illiquid assets, particularly in private credit, and has assisted sponsors to bring closed ended, open ended, semi liquid and hybrid products to market to meet the demands of an ever-expanding client base. He has worked extensively right across the range of private credit funds, including US, European and global direct lending, infrastructure debt, fund finance, sustainable finance, asset finance and special situations. He has also been actively involved in the recently burgeoning area of creating joint ventures between financial institutions and asset managers.
He is ranked in both Chambers and The Legal 500. Clients describe him as “going the extra mile, being highly responsive, immensely knowledgeable and a pleasure to deal with”. He is also one of only five Band 1 ranked lawyers in Chambers’ Private Credit Funds category.
